There were two different sized ball studs used on Hot Spring cover lifters. One is this 1/4" threaded shaft and the other (3rd qtr 2009) is 5/16" threaded shaft (part# 75149). Either one size or the other will be on your cover lifter but not both sizes. Ball studs are used to attach the gas shocks (struts) to the Cover Cradle, Cover Cradle II and Uprite cover lifter hardware. 

The Gas Spring lock is used to secure the Uprite Lifter in the open position attaching to only one gas shock. This part is typically left off when installing the Uprite Cover Lifter unless the spa is located in a windy area. 

The Uprite® Cover Lifter employs two gas shocks that assist in opening the spa cover. Sometimes these gas shocks can fall victim to the elements (storms, crazy uncles, frat parties etc.) and need replacing. Replacement time is approximately thirty seconds each. This item is for one gas shock.

These washers are used with the ¼” – 20 x 5/8” Hex Head Bolts & ¼” – 20 x 1” Hex Head Bolt on the Gliderite and also used on the Uprite cover lifter.
